May 16, 2018 Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center is getting a new parking lot! Planned improvements include resurfacing and repair of the lot, lighting improvements, and bioswales to reduce runoff volumes and improve stormwater quality. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-July, with completion of the lot anticipated in mid-September. A more specific timeline will be provided closer to the beginning of the project. Pickleball is an interesting sport that combines various elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It’s said that the game was named by the inventor’s wife, who compared it to a “pickle boat” in the sport of rowing, referring to a boat filled with leftover rowers from other boats.
